Smooth purchase for Fun Pass and rides

I ordered a Fun Pass and two Unlimited Ride Wristbands for my kids online for the San Diego County Fair. The ordering process was pretty straightforward on the website, I used a promo code I found through a local grocery store which was easy to apply at checkout. Confirmation email arrived right away. We opted for the mobile tickets, which scanned without any problems at the entrance and for the rides. The wristbands worked for all the Kids Zone Rides and the bigger ones too. I didn't need to contact support, so I can't speak to that. Everything was as described and expected, made our day at the fair much smoother.

Good value overall, few small issues

I bought a Season Pass for the San Diego County Fair last year, which was great value considering how many times we went. It was easy to use at the gate, no issues there. Parking Passes online were also convenient. The only downside was the website felt a bit clunky when trying to add a Concert Series Ticket later; it just wasn't as smooth as the initial pass purchase. Delivery of the passes was quick, took about 5 days to reach San Marcos. Customer service responded fairly fast when I had a question about the Paddock Concerts schedule, so that was a plus.

Weekdays are generally way less crowded than weekends. If you can go on a Tuesday or Wednesday, especially earlier in the day, it's usually much more manageable.

Definitely avoid opening weekend if you hate crowds. I went on a Thursday last year and it wasn't too bad until later in the evening.

They usually have specific Military Discount Days, not sure if it's an everyday thing. You'd have to check the schedule for those dates.

I went last year and pretty much everything was card or mobile pay. I'd say you're safe just bringing cards.

Most vendors prefer card, but I did see a few smaller stalls or games that took cash. Probably best to have a little cash just in case, but you won't need much.

You can usually find promo codes online for certain days or groups if you look around. Also, check if they have special 'Kids Day' or 'Senior Day' discounts, those sometimes apply regardless of where you buy.

I think they sometimes partner with O'Reilly Auto Parts for discounts too, but you'd have to check if that's still happening this year. Otherwise, just buying online in advance can save you a little sometimes compared to gate prices.

You can usually bring your own water bottle, and I've seen people with small snacks. Just don't bring a whole picnic basket, they'll probably make you toss it.

Water bottles are usually fine, but they're pretty strict about outside food. I think it says on their site no large coolers or outside meals. Small stuff for kids might fly though.

Honestly, parking can be a mess. If you don't mind walking a bit, regular parking is usually cheaper, but preferred is definitely more convenient if you're willing to pay for it. Sometimes there are shuttle lots too.
